The Saginaw Art Museum & Gardens will be hosting a compelling exhibition titled  New American Visions from September 10, 2024 through January 5, 2025.

New American Visions is a stunning selection of photographs from five contemporary Michigan based photographers. This exhibition explores film as a medium to capture and reflect the nuanced narratives of our time. It invites viewers to slow down and engage with the texture, depth and emotion of fleeting everyday moments.

This work functions as a dialogue between the past and the present showcasing how traditional techniques can be used to engage with contemporary life and modern human connection.

The act of photographing is the act of observing, of being present and engaging with the world. A photo on its own can speak volumes, but a collection of photos can speak to each other and tell a larger narrative. Taken at face value, these are photos of people, places, and events, but if we look a little closer we begin to see ourselves, our communities, our home.

Photographs created by Christopher Jarvis, Suraj Bhamra,  Gabriela Baginski,  Brandon Friant, and Jacob Geboski will be featured.

An opening celebration will take place at the museum on September 10, 2024 6pm-8pm. An Artists’ Talk event which will allow for direct discussion of the exhibition will be hosted at the museum on October 5, 2024 1pm.
